The North Canterbury Kids Hunt is a hunting competition open to children up to and including 16 years of age. Entries are welcome from across New Zealand; however, participants must be present at the official weigh-in to be eligible for prizes.
This event is a competition only. The organisers do not arrange, guide, or supervise hunting activities. Participants are solely responsible for organising their own hunting trips, including locations, permissions, supervision, and ensuring all activities are conducted safely and legally.
Any animal entered must be harvested in full compliance with New Zealand firearms legislation and safety requirements. Where a firearm is used, it must be handled by a current New Zealand firearms licence holder. A licensed adult may harvest an animal on behalf of a child, provided the child is present and participating in the hunting experience.
The purpose of the event is to bring families and friends together, encourage safe and responsible hunting practices, and provide young people with a positive learning experience in the outdoors.
